Save Real Money on Groceries

I'm at the store waiting in the line so that I can pay my grocery bill. I enjoy one of my favourite moments -- examining the shopping carts of different customers. I pay attention to the woman who is in my path and note what's inside her basket. Brand name potato chips flour, cereal and. She's stuffed with the gelatin desserts that is on sale at the grocery store. Pre-packaged meals, frozen dinners. Floor cleaner and nail polish.

Oh, how I could save on the groceries of this lady. The good news is that here are Cheap Chick Tips to help you shop for groceries.

Grocery Trick No. 1

Visit the market only every week at the exact time of week. This might be more difficult than it appears however it can reduce your expenses. How? First, it's obvious: your transport costs. In addition, it will help concentrate your efforts. It is clear that you are there to buy food items and you'll have to buy an entire week's worth of food. This will eliminate the multiple trips to the store to pick up one quart of milk and some bread and you'll walk away having $50 of food.

Grocery Trick No. 2

Visit the market with a list of items and a budget that is not over the limit. Your list will be based on your weekly menus. This means that you'll need to figure out seven meals as well as seven lunches and seven breakfasts, as well as any snacks that you'll require for the week. You'll have to determine the items you'll require for each one and record it. It's not a good idea to purchase anything that's not listed on the list. If you're out of celery wait for a week before buying it. (See Trick No. 1 above). Do not make short trips to the local grocery store during the week. Make a budget for how much you will spend on food items (including meals out) and do not go over it. You should bring a specific amount of cash in order to purchase your groceries, in case it makes things more convenient.

Grocery Trick No. 3

Don't ever stock up. What? Am I crazy? Let's look at the reasons why I don't ever buy more. What number of times you cooked banana bread using leftover bananas? Or, perhaps, have you thrown them away? Let's say that a gelatin dessert with a flavor is available for sale at 10 boxes for $1. You're not sure if it's on your list however, at this price, you are compelled to throw 10 boxes in your cart. You've just shelled out a dollar that you don't have to. If you decide to buy the ten boxes you bought, chances are that one year from now, nine of them will being on the shelf. Gelatin is something you're thinking about purchase a box for 10 cents, and then put the rest of the 90 cents into your wallet. I am sure it will come back on sale some day. For coupons are concerned, make use of them if you planned to purchase the item. However, keep in mind that often the brand that is in-house is less expensive than the brand you purchase using coupons.

Grocery Trick No. 4

This rule is in hand with rule number 3. Never, ever shop at a super discount stores. Don't lie to me about how low it is. It's a professional person to traverse a huge warehouse full of floor-to-ceiling-height socks, dvds and boxes of socks without buying everything except for the things that are on their shopping list.

Grocery Trick No. 5

You should leave your children, husband and wife at home during your go shopping, unless they've purchased into the Cheap Chick tricks. If you must bring your childrenalong, do not do it by buying their toys or junk food at the supermarket that they want. It will be regrettable.

Grocery Trick No. 6

Get groceries at the store. However, not every supermarket. Find the grocery store with a bag-your-own-groceries or the market with no frills. There isn't an inside bank, coffee bar or florist. There's no selection of a fully-priced market, or the expensive prices of the tiny shop in the corner. The liquor store won't have wines priced at $50 (but they'll have really good deals on winecheck out my suggestions regarding drinking wine in the upper right hand corner of the page). But, they'll offer fresh herbs, pizza dough, as well as great olive oil. There aren't hundreds of brands of staples, but a few different brands of butter, milk and yogurt and dressing for salads (including their own brand, which is typically the most affordable by far). It's clear that you'll save money by not throwing away food. Also, you'll need to pack your own food items, but since you'll be interacting with someone else who's bagging their grocery bags, they'll be able to start a conversation. It's also completely free.
